Victorian Mountain Running Championships – results

On Saturday the Victorian Mountain Running Champs were held at Ferntree Gully Picnic Ground. We had a total of 34 competitors across the three distances and there were close to 100 supporters and spectators. Given the relatively short notice most people had, we were pretty happy with the turnout and we’re confident it’ll be much bigger next year as word spreads.

The weather was absolutely perfect and I believe a good day was had by all. There were a number of very good performances, most notably by Matt Bayley in the U20 men’s 8.4km, who showed that he’s in great form for the upcoming world mountain running champs. The Open Women’s event was won by Bridget Spackman, while the Open Men’s race was a real battle of two, with Grant Morgan only breaking clear of David Eadie on the final descent.
