Course: Grass longer and tracks overgrown compared with previous years; the flies were bad!!
RACE REPORT
Canberra’s three-time Australian mountain running champion Scott McTaggart dominated Australia’s toughest uphill race, the Crackenback Challenge at Thredbo on Sunday. McTaggart clocked 20 mins 42 secs for the 2 kms to Top Station on Mt Crackenback, well outside the course record in the unseasonly hot conditions. Canberra veteran Anthony Scott, a former Australian champion, was second in 21:49 and Sydney’s Chad Armstrong third in 23:23.
Australian long distance mountain running representative Vanessa Haverd of Canberra was 4th outright and first female in 24:33, with former world number one triathlete Annabel Luxford close behind in 25:08. Dual world rogaining champion Julie Quinn was third in 26:08.
