OSMOND ADDS TO HIS RECORD
Australia’s most-capped international mountain runner, David Osmond of Canberra, enhanced his legendary status at Thredbo on Saturday when he won his 14th Crackenback Challenge up the gruelling climb from the Valley Terminal to the summit of Mt Crackenback. The next prolific winners in the 41-year history of the race are 3-time victors Ross Martin and Paul Crake.
Osmond clocked 19 mins 34 secs, with two-time winter Olympian Anthony Evans of Jindabyne second in 20:06 and former Australian mountain running champion Anthony Scott of Canberra third in 21:04.
Australian mountain running representative Vanessa Haverd of Canberra finished fifth outright and in running 23:00 only missed the all-time women’s race record of Louise Fairfax by just 3 seconds. Sydney’s Elisha Borodzic was second in 30:33 and Wamboin’s Kaaren Sutcliffe third in 35:54.
