Vanessa Haverd today took nearly half a minute off her personal best when she smashed Emily Brichachek\’s long standing record for the 2.6 km Black Mountain Run Up in the ACT. The course starts off Clunies Ross Street at Acton and climbs 200m in elevation along the summit track to the highest point on Black Mountain opposite Telstra Tower. Haverd ran 12.39 to lower the record by 10 seconds, with three time world rogaining champion Julie Quinn next female in 15.37, and up and coming Louise Sharp third in 15.58.
Former Australian representative Stuart Doyle was fastest male in 12.12, from Brad Hetharia in 12.49 and Simon Claringbold third in 13.33.
The weather was fine and sunny with the temperature around 26 degrees.
