Mt Ainslie Run Up, ACT
2.3 kms, Tuesday 2 March 2010
In their final mountain running tune ups for the Six Foot Track 45 kms on Saturday week, Vanessa Haverd, Louise Sharp and Patrick Kluth all clocked personal bests in today\’s Mt Ainslie Run Up. Haverd, the defending Six Foot Track female champion, continued her hot streak of great form when she reduced her personal best from 12.21 to 12.07. Sharp, who has been training regularly with Vanessa, slashed her personal best from 15.10 to 14.35. Patrick Kluth has been toughening up for Six Foot with super long and hilly runs in the Brindabellas with former world rogaining champions Dave Baldwin and Julie Quinn. He went from 14.47 last month to 13.54 today.
Trevor Jacobs, leader of the ACT Gramps Army at Six Foot Track, was not feeling as fresh as the others. The former world veteran mountain running champion over both 11 kms and 42 kms was recovering from almost 4 hours of running five times up and down Mt Majura on Sunday, an elevation gain of over 1,000m. Last Wednesday he wrapped up his third victory in three years in the age-sex handicapped Runners Shop Orienteering Summer series in Canberra. Sufficient fitness will not be a problem for Trevor at Six Foot.
