Mt Ainslie 2.3 km Run Up, ACT
Tuesday 4 May 2010
Weather: Fine and sunny, 18 degrees.
CSIRO scientist and Canberra Cockatoo representative orienteer Dr Chris Helliwell has placed in several mountain runs over the last 12 months. It was not surprising then to see him collect a win in the May Mt Ainslie Run in a field much smaller than usual as people recovered from the Canberra Road Running Festival Weekend or the 6 hour Paddy Pallin Rogaine. He clocked 12.51 to finish ahead of Simon Claringbold (13.16) and Tony Hrstic (13.26)
Run Up stalwart Kerri Louttit was fastest female in 17.52, with Colleen Koh having her first race since recovering from a stress fracture and clocking 19.46. Her husband Dr William Chin ran 17.53, celebrating both his birthday and a day off work at Canberra hospital. Third female was Lucille Pedersen in 20.32.
