Black Mountain Run Up
2.6 kms, Canberra
Tuesday 18 May
Fresh from a commanding cycle race victory over the weekend, 2009 ACT Cycling’s Masters Cyclist of the Year Simon Claringbold continued to build on the number of wins he has recorded in the Black Mountain Run Up, clocking 13.18 to secure a 12 second win over Luke Kay. ANU researcher Patrick Kluth slashed more than 15 seconds off his personal best in a strong run to finish 3rd in 13.50.
Canberra Road Running Festival 50 km champion Louise Sharp recovered quickly from the ultra and has been in fine form since then. She zipped up the mountain in 15.41 and looks set for a competitive run in this Saturday’s Australian Women’s Championship on Mt Tennent. The amazing Julie Quinn finished a close second in the North Face 100km over the weekend and produced a stunning performance to back up on Black Mountain only 2 days later in 16.34. The ever consistent Kerri Louttit was 3rd female in 17.57.
