Helliwell and Haverd sizzle in perfect weather on Black Mountain

CSIRO scientists Chris Helliwell and Vanessa Haverd took advantage of the cool, still sunny lunchtime weather to clock fast times up Black Mountain and take the first two placings. Helliwell, backing up from finishing 2nd in the Googong Dam Half Marathon on Sunday, clocked 12.37 and Haverd 13.11. Third across the line was inaugural Black Mountain Run Up winner Adrian Sheppard in 13.23 and former world rogaining champion David Baldwin was next in 13.51. Victorian visitor Robin Rishworth, 7th in the Australian mountain running championship, was 2 seconds further back, just holding off the improving Patrick Kluth in 13.54.
