The Eureka Climb is a charity stair climb event up Melbourne’s iconic Eureka Tower. People of all ages and fitness levels walk and climb up the Eureka Tower to help raise much needed funds for Whitelion and Interplast Australia and New Zealand so they can continue their great work and help to ‘rebuild young lives’. This year the event will feature an Elite Race (for a select 20 males and 20 females), to kick off the day at 8am on Sunday 14th November 2010. Competitors will go up in 20 second intervals over a 15 minute wave.
Travelscene American Express have kindly donated prizes for the fastest male and female up the tower on event day. These winners will each receive return airfares to New York, transfers and 5 nights’ accommodation. Event organizers are in the process of investigating the possibility of the winners receiving automatic entry into the Empire State Building Run Up. *terms and conditions apply please visit www.eurekaclimb.com.au for more details.
If you are a well performed national class mountain runner, to apply for a position in the Elite Race please visit www.eurekaclimb.com.au and click on the yellow “apply for elite race” button or click this link http://www.eurekaclimb.com.au/elite-application. Selections will be made by Athletics Australia and their decision is final. Applications close Friday October 1st at 5pm, all applicants will be notified on Thursday October 14th whether they were selected to compete or not. Selected competitors will still need to pay a registration fee of $55 and encouraged to fundraise (although it is not compulsory for them to raise a minimum pledge as other competitors are).
Please note submitting an application for the Elite Race will not register you to compete in the event, if you are not selected to compete in the Elite Race then you can still register as a regular competitor and will be eligible for the New York Prize.
