High octane runs by Gibson and Cardelli in Bogong to Hotham

The Bogong to Hotham 64k, with 3336m of ascent, and 2.86m of descent (GARMIN measure), held for many years the title of Australia’s toughest trail run. While this supremacy has been challenged in recent years by events such as the North Face 100k, it still ranks on a par with the toughest around because of the huge climbs, high altitude and tough weather conditions.

The 2010 North Face winner Stuart Gibson ran an outstanding 6:59:21 to win from Damon Goerke (7:17:32), Rob Walter (7:23:38), Waybe Heath (7:59:02), Nate Chistianson (7:59:02) and Matt Cooper (8:08:30).

Fitzroy Falls marathon winner Beth Cardelli was fastest female in a new race record time of 8:14:27 from Bryony McConnell (9:50:44), Jessica Robson (11:00:52) and Fleur Grose (11:18:23).

Full results of the 64k plus race reports are at the event website https://sites.google.com/site/bogong2hotham/. Results of the 35k are still to be posted.
