The official temperature at the start of today’s Mt Ainsie Run Up at 12.45pm was 8.4 degrees, falling to 7.0 degrees by 1.30pm, but wind gusts of 50 kph made the wind chill temperature below zero. Certainly it was a battle keeping the fingers warm enough to write down times.
Masters cycling ace Simon Claringbold took out the run in 13.06 from English runner Jonathan Goodhand, with Patrick Kluth third in 13.33. Former World Mountain Bike Prienteering Championship medallist Belinda Allison was fastest female in 16.05, from another top orienteer in Susie Kluth in 16.45, with Kerri Louttit third in 17.30.
