Nick Wightman and Bronwyn Humphrys, both of Melbourne, have been the best of the Australians in the Commonwealth Mountain Running Championships in Wales. Both finished 13th in their respective races.

Humphrys, 8th in the World Junior Mountain Running Championships last year, has struggled with injuries and illness this year apart from a superb run to win the Australian junior title in Brisbane in May. She had a disappointing run by her standards 2 weeks ago at the World Junior Championships in Albania, finishing 20th, but recovered to put together a big performance in Wales. Following her in were Hubertien Wichers 14th, Clare Durrant 17th and Annabelle Wilson 19th.

In the men’s race Nick Wightman finished 13th, Patrick Nispel 20th, Gerard Robb 24th and Edwin Perry 27th.

The Australian men’s and women’s teams both finished 4th.
