This gruelling uphill race from Thredbo to the top of Mt Crackenback outside the chairlift terminal has been going for about 40 years. This year had one of the strongest fields ever with 2014 World Stair Racing champion Mark Bourne up against Australia’s best long distance and ultra distance mountain runner and former Olympic marathon runner Martin Dent and multiple Australian orienteering champion and English international Matt Crane. Bourne won in 20.38 (2 mins outside Paul Crake’s record) with Crane 2nd in 21.30 and Dent 3rd in 21.55. Former Australian mountain running rep Louise Sharp was 1st female in 25.56, Elisha Bell 2nd in 30.40 and Meg Haynes 3rd in 32.55. Sharp moved into 14th place on the all time rankings with her performance.
