Australian Mountain Running Association Newsletter: 13 May 2016
A very busy calendar
There has been a major increase in the numbers of mountain and hilly trail runs on the running calendar in the last 2 years with increased numbers of events organised by the trail running organisations around Australia, Sky Running organisers, and others. It has made it much more difficult to find dates that don’t clash either directly or indirectly. This was a particular problem with selecting a date this year for the Australian Mountain Running Championships as April had Easter and a succession of Sky Running Events in Victoria and May has the Mother’s Day Classic then SMH Half Marathon and Ultra Trail events. It has already snowed in the alpine areas so it is not possible to go past mid-May. A clash was therefore inevitable. On the plus side, it means there is a smorgasbord of events to choose from in Australia and New Zealand.
