Former Sky Running World Championship bronze medallist Ben Duffus (QLD) revelled in the steep and at times rough and muddy 10 km course with 1000m climb up Mt Wellington to win the Australian senior men’s mountain running championship in Hobart. Former world stair racing champion (currently ranked no. 2 in the world) Mark Bourne (ACT) was 2nd and NSW trail runner Leo Peterson was 3rd.
The Tim Crosbie coached Simone Brick from Melbourne outlasted Tasmanian junior superstar Meriem Daoui to win the senior women’s championship, with Tasmanian trail running star Joanna Sinclair, a former 5th place getter at 6 Foot Track, 3rd.
NSW juniors Eligh Morris and Will Atkinson had a close contest to finish 1st and 2nd in the Junior 5.6 km with 600m of ascent of Goat Hill. Alex Race-Stelling (VIC) finished 3rd for the 2nd year running.
Highly talented Tasmanian track and cross country star Arabella Phillips won the junior girls 5.6 km with Indeah Morris of NSW runner up.
