Brichacek smashes course record in Mt Ainslie Run Up, Tuesday 5 September

Emily Brichacek of Weston Creek Athletics Club today smashed her own course record in finishing second outright in the Mt Ainslie Run Up in Canberra. Brichacek, better known as a track athlete who last year set a new Australian under 16 record for the 3,000m of 9:08, clocked 11 mins 48 secs to become the first female to better 12 minutes for the 2.3km ascent of Mt Ainslie with an elevation gain of over 200m.  Two weeks ago she clocked 12:27 to cut a few seconds from Jackie Fairweather’s record in her debut run over the course.
